Pride month is celebrated in June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which kicked off the first major demonstration for gay rights in America. As well as being a month-long celebration to raise political awareness of current issues facing the community.
Today, Pride Month features parades around the country, educational and awareness events, and parties to celebrate gay pride.
