November Awarenesses

UME would like to rally together to both spread awareness and show support.

During the Month of November, educational and fundraising efforts will be made in support of:

American Diabetes-Every year the number of cases of Diabetes reported ring the alarm on the Diabetes epidemic.

For millions of people who are at risk, it’s time to get educated, find resources and make sure all those around us are aware of their risk, too.

As for the millions living with diabetes, it’s a chance to awaken the world. Until we find a cure, we will find each other to lift each other up.

Lung Cancer- Our nation’s second leading cause of death, only behind heart disease. Lung cancer accounts for more deaths than any other cancer. More than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined.

However, thanks to advances in technology, early detection using spiral CT has been shown to reduce lung cancer by 16 to 20 percent compared to standard X Rays among adults.

Exciting new treatments for lung cancer are being discovered that may be used alone, before or after, or in combination with the traditional chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.

UME will be sharing photos of “wearing of the white” which is the color for Lung Cancer Awareness on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtags #lcam #livingwithlungcancer
#lungcancerresearch

Epilepsy- According to the Epilepsy Foundation, 1 to 10 people will experience a seizure throughout their life, and 1 in 26 will develop epilepsy.

One-third of people with epilepsy live with uncontrollable seizures. With additional funding and awareness, we can enhance our research to improve treatments and to support programs that can help improve quality of life.
