In Our Community

“The time is always right to do what is right.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

As we celebrate MLK Day, remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.`s dream of equality and justice for all. In the modern world, we must continue to strive for fair treatment of all people – regardless of race or background.

Dr. King’s legacy will forever live on in our hearts as a reminder to treat our brothers and sisters on this planet with love and respect.

On this day and every day, let`s take the opportunity to educate ourselves, our loved ones and others on the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion. #MLKDay

"The best is yet to come." – Frank Sinatra

As we bid farewell to 2022 and welcome 2023, let’s take a moment to reflect on the past year and all that we have accomplished. Though this year had challenges, it also brought us new opportunities and experiences.

Cheers to a fresh start and all the possibilities that the new year brings.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

“So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole Earth.” — Bahá’u’lláh

Happy Kwanzaa! Today the week-long celebration of African culture and heritage begins. This holiday is a time for reflection and unity, as those who celebrate come together to honor the seven principles of Kwanzaa as seven candles are lit.

As the kinara candles shine and homes are decorated, let us remember to celebrate the diverse and rich histories of our ancestors.

Wishing everyone a joyous and meaningful Kwanzaa!

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” — Luke 2:11

Our UME family wishes a Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! May the holiday season fill your hearts with joy as you spend time with loved ones.

While the past year has brought challenges, we must make the most of our time with those we hold dear. Remember to cherish these moments as life’s journey continues.

“A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness.” — Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi

Hanukkah is a time to remember the miracle of light and the victory of good over evil. For those who celebrate, it’s also a time to gather with loved ones while enjoying the warmth and joy of the holiday season.

Let us remember the importance of love, faith, and the enduring human spirit. Let us also take a moment to reflect on the values of the holiday, and how we can carry them with us throughout the new year.

Happy Hanukkah!

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” — Winston Churchill

To spread some of our blessings to those in need, UME selected 5 families from the Wesley House Adopt-a-Family program and purchased all requested gift items.

This nonprofit organization is dedicated to nurturing children and families throughout Monroe County, Florida – a mission especially admirable during the holiday season.

We thank you, Wesley House, for granting us the opportunity to make a difference in the community by contributing to such a positive cause.

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” - John F. Kennedy

UME wishes all of our strategic partners a Happy Thanksgiving.
We hope you enjoy this holiday season and can reflect on the blessings in your life.

Let Veterans Day be a reminder of the men and women who fought for freedom amidst great hardship. Freedom is not guaranteed, but rather the result of the sacrifices our Veterans made to protect the United States of America.

For those still with us, we thank you – for those who are gone, may you be forever remembered in the hearts of all Americans.

Our UME family would like to honor these individuals who sacrificed everything to serve. We salute you!
