Armed Forces Day

“Our Servicemen and women are serving throughout the world as guardians of peace–many of them away from their homes, their friends and their families. They are visible evidence of our determination to meet any threat to the peace with measured strength and high resolve. They are also evidence of a harsh but inescapable truth–that the survival of freedom requires great cost and commitment, and great personal sacrifice”. – President John F. Kennedy, 1963

May 18, 2019 is Armed Forces Day.. The day was created on 31 August 1949, to honor Americans serving in the five U.S. military branches – the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard. It is celebrated with military exercises on land, sea and in the air to honor members of the US military and to show off their state-of-the-art equipment to the civilian population it protects.

UME supported Armed Forces Day by our $1200.00 contribution to the Easter Seals Foundation. Easter Seal’s mission is to ensure that it’s possible for veterans and military families to live their lives to the fullest in every community. They work to break down barriers, engage organizations and communities, and connect veterans and military families with what they need for meaningful employment, education and overall wellness.

Thank you to our UME Team for your contributions!!!
